Curriculum Intent- RE

At Willen, we aim to offer a progressive and diverse Religious Education curriculum. It is our intent to engage, inspire, challenge and encourage pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to answer challenging questions, explore different religious beliefs, values and traditions and develop a comprehensive understanding of the numerous religious traditions, beliefs and practices that are followed in our multi-cultural society. We want our religious education to contribute to enabling pupils to combat prejudice, preparing them for adult life, employment and life-long learning.  We will follow the Milton Keynes agreed syllabus which aims to grow ‘religious literacy’ so that pupils can be confident in expressing their own religious understanding and respectfully learning from others of different religious backgrounds. The curriculum builds on the skills and knowledge that the children acquire.  The curriculum is enriched by visits from local faith groups, through assembly reflection and looking at places of worship in our local area. This is also supported by learning about significant religious figures as well as famous figures within religion.
